NATURE'S FOOD | PREMIUM POCKET JAM

Who could ever imagine that jam will come in the most pocket friendly size?

All the way from Korea, is the Nature Food's Premium Pocket Jam. When I first heard of this product, I thought to myself " Oh, it's just jam! " however after getting to know more about it, I came to realise that this product is completely sugar free! How?

It is a concentrated blend of fruit enzymes mixed with Korean organic rice and organic barley which makes it naturally sweet yet not too sweet as compared to the jams you'll find in the market.
Additionally, this product is free from preservatives and food additives which makes is safe for the whole family be it young or old!
This product comes in 3 flavours: Grape, Citrus and Banana.
It's great for pairing with crackers (my personal favourite combination while snacking) , yogurt,
or even just on plain bread! My personal favourite flavour would be the grape, if you ask me I would say it's very comparable to the one you get in your McDonald's breakfast but this is better and a much healthier alternative.

I love that they come in individuall packets for single consumption as it's much more hygienic as opposed to jams which comes in a jar. Due to frequent exposure those in the jar tends to get contaminated after awhile, I often find bits of food in my jam jars and it can get quite gross!
With the way it's packaged, it makes it easier for portability. Especially if you have kids or find yourself throwing a picnic, having these on the go would make life so much easier. I'll definitely be packing a few packets of these on my upcoming holiday so I can enjoy them when I have my breakfasts on the go! :)

Where to buy this?
You can shop this product by clicking on this link : Nature's Food Premium Pocket Jam
I'm so glad to have discovered this product and I hope you will enjoy them too!

EUNOS MRT BAK KUT TEH

I'm not sure about most of you but for my friends and I, we tend to get our cravings for Bak Kut Teh every once in awhile. Best thing about Bak Kut Teh is that you can have if at anytime of the day. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and now... even Supper!

My favourite style of Bak Kut Teh will be the Teochew style which can be found in most places in Singapore. This is the one with the peppery soup base as compared to the other style which is mostly served in a claypot and has a much herbal taste to it.

Eunos MRT Bak Kut Teh
So recently I had the time to pop by a friend's family run business, which is the Eunos MRT Bak Kut Teh. No prizes guessing where this place is as the name says it all, just a stone's throw away from the Eunos Mrt Station. Previously the stall was located in Paya Lebar as
"星都肉骨茶" then they relocated to Eunos in 1994 and has been there since then :)
This makes is really easy to visit since it's situated right next to the MRT station!
We had the braised pig trotters, intestines, You Tiao, Tau Kee, Salted Vegetables and of course.. Pork ribs!
For this post I will jump into some of the main dishes that we had.
Braised Pork Trotters
This has probably got to be one of my favourite dishes and one that I love! Don't underestimate the size of the bowl as there's a fairly good portion of meat that I could find inside. The meat is soft and tender and really tasty! The sauce was just nice, not too salty nor oily which makes this dish really easy to enjoy.

Pig Intestines
I'm usually not a fan of pig intestines but the ones here are well cooked in their speciality sauce which goes well with rice. The intestines are well cleaned to avoid the 'smell' that would usually come when it isn't washed throughly. The texture is also cooked to the right amount of chewy!

Bak Kut Teh
And then of course there is the main dish- BKT! Not sure about you but I'm a huge fan of the peppery soup type of BKT. I was instantly drawn to the soup as it had the right amount of pepper, paired with the sweetness of the pork, this dish had the perfect balance.
The pork used is fresh and cooked to the right texture, and the meat slides off the bone really easy and the combination with the rice and other dishes just made the dish really delicious!
Overall I definitely enjoyed my dinner at Eunos Bak Kut Teh and I'm glad know that this hidden jem isn't located far from where I stay (yay for me!!!) and for those who lives in the East why not pop by and patronise when your BKT craving kicks in!

HAI XIAN LAO 海鲜捞 EXPERIENCE

When it comes to popular steamboat/hot pots I'm sure there's only a handful of places we can think of. Most popular being one that requires at least 3 hours of waiting time on peak hours which can get a little frustrating especially when one is hungry.  But fret not... introducing to you my new favourite steamboat restaurant, Hai Xian Lao which I feel deserves a little more limelight for their amazing food and service :)
To be honest this isn't the first time I'm visiting Hai Xian Lao, before this post I've been there a few times and have asked many friends along to try and a few of them have been hooked since. I've  managed to convert them into fans of HXL!
At Hai Xian Lao you can choose either 1 or 2 soup bases, and offers 7 different soup choices! From Laksa, Ma-la, Chicken, Collagen, Mushroom, Tom yum and Tomato. It is recommended to try their Laksa as well as Collagen! For the ladies who want to be vain yet enjoy your steamboat, the collagen soup is said to promote younger looking skin and hair! How's that for killing 2 birds with 1 stone?

From the menu there's a wide variety and selection of food for steamboat, seafood as well as ready cooked dishes. I really love that all the meat and seafood is served fresh and at a reasonable portion and price too!
My favorite pork belly!!! This is a must order for me,
after cooking it in the soup you can definitely taste the rich flavors from the pork, it's so goooood! They do have a decent selection of chicken and beef as well but as I've abstained from beef, I decided to pick pork over chicken!
Got the mushroom platter because I love me some mushrooms!
We had the Chicken and Tomato soup that evening, I find myself picking the tomato soup more often as it gives the food more flavor, definitely something different from what I would usually have!
Ordered the Dory Fish Slices as well since and I find myself always going back to this as it's really always served fresh so 10 points to fresh fish! :)
Not sure about you but I'm the biggest fan of the Fish Skin in HXL, I never thought it would be nice since it's... fish skin but after trying it once I was sold!!! It didn't taste like fish at all, perhaps a little more like 'keropok' haha and all you do is dip it in the soup for a few seconds before enjoying it~
Fresh oysters are available too if you're a fan! Served with a squeeze of lemon and tobasco :)
At Hai Xian Lao they offer air-conditioned as well as al-fresco styled dining. I've always chose to sit outside as I really like the atmosphere of outdoor dining! The restaurant is very elaborated decorated which makes the overall dining ambience and experience very enjoyable :)
by the way the amount of food we ordered and had was for 3pax, haha Denise was late so we started eating first. But surprisingly enough we managed to finish most of it.... after a 3hour sitting lol.
Overall it was yet another satisfying experience with Hai Xian Lao! Definitely did enjoy the food as well as the place and no qualms about heading back again soon. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone who wants to get their steamboat hot pot fix. The restaurant is open daily from 11am-5am so if you happen to crave steamboat at 2am, just pop by to fix that craving :)

Thank you for having us and for the sumptuous meal!!!
